Arnica oil is obtained from the maceration of dried arnica flowers in organic deodorised sunflower oil. The resulting oil is renown for its anti-inflammatory, anti-hematoma and analgesic actions. It is a powerful first aid tool in contusions, bruises and traumatic injuries as it helps limit the swelling, bruising and stiffness and aids healing. It is indicated in the management of joint pains as well as muscle pains and joint stiffness. Arnica oil can be used to treat first degree burns and sunburns as well as minor skin inflammations. Arnica oil usually contains a slight amount of arnica essential oil which confers its antiseptic properties.
Arnica oil is traditionally diluted to 10-25% in a blend of carrier oils. This is a rich oil. Leaves an oily feel to the skin.
Precautions: Do not apply on open wounds or near the eyes. Do not take orally. May stain clothes. Ensure maxiuum absorption before putting clothes on. May cause allergies in individuals allergic to other plants of the asteraceae family, like chamomiles, daisies and ragweed.
